-Water maintains moisture in the body and is perfect for keeping your skin hydrated and supple. It naturally suppresses the appetite and helps the body metabolize stored fat. An increase in water intake reduces fat deposits and vice versa. Try for six to eight glasses of water a day.
-Ideally you should book a course of facials 6 months leading up to your wedding and avoid having a facial within the last week before your big day.
-Limit sugar, anything processed, baked goods, fizzy drinks and fruit-juices they all go towards making your skin look dull and pasty and your face puffy!
-Hit the gym. When we work up a good sweat, we cleanse the skin of environmental toxins. Don’t forget to remove the grime afterwards and cleanse and tone thoroughly.
-One of the best-kept anti-ageing secrets, and one of the best friends a glowing, youthful complexion can have is a good night’s sleep. It’s during those precious hours that our cells repair damage.
-Don’t skip removing your make-up at night, your bedtime cleanse is as crucial as brushing your teeth.
-Ban the bloat by opting for fresh herbs to flavour foods rather than table salt. Also, cut back on caffeine—both increase puffiness, dark circles and a dull complexion.
-Keep your make-up brushes clean. They need a regular shampoo and set! Bacteria love the moistness of a make-up brush and you’re putting that right back onto your skin every time you apply!
-Look after your teeth too. You should avoid drinking coffee, dark fizzy drinks and red wine in the weeks leading up to your wedding to reduce teeth stains.
-Eat a rainbow of colourful fruit and vegetables and aim for at least five portions a day. Betacarotene, found in Pumpkin, Carrots and Sweet Potato and Proteins, found in Kale, Papaya and Spinach are potent antioxidants, important for normal skin cell development and healthy skin tone.
-If you crave something sweet besides fresh fruit, choose dark chocolate that’s at least 70 percent Cocoa. Cocoa hydrates your skin, making it firmer and more supple. Dark chocolate contains high levels of flavonols, a potent type of antioxidant.
-Use a daily SPF. The Multi-Corrective CC Cream or the Anti-Ageing Protective Care both contain SPF30. It’s the minimum your skin needs to avoid sun damage.
-Keep your hands off your face. Your hands touch so many surfaces, they are a magnet for dirt and germs. Rub your eyes, stroke your chin, cup your cheek and you’ve transferred everything on your hands to your face. It’s just asking for blocked pores or spots!
-Go nuts – Brazil Nuts are rich in Selenium, which helps increases skin elasticity. Throw in Walnuts—which are loaded with Omega-3 Fatty Acids to lower inflammation and put the brakes on breakouts.
-Start using a serum – It’s never too late. They are much more concentrated than a cream, so you tend to only need a small amount daily to see results. Used underneath your day or night cream, the concentrated ingredients penetrate deeper and work harder. Well worth the investment.
-Calm redness with Green Tea – It’s very high in antioxidants, particularly one named EGCG, which is proved to reduce redness. Sip at least one cup of Green Tea a day and fight red skin.
